Hansford Flowers: Supporting Our Community with Love and Flowers

Hansford Flowers: Supporting Our Community with Love and Flowers

At Hansford Flowers, we believe that flowers have the power to bring comfort, joy, and hope to those who need it most. When we received a heartfelt request from the Griffith Paramedic Society to support a fundraiser for a brave young girl named Skye Whitfield, we knew we had to do something special.

Skye, an 8-year-old Gold Coast local, has faced more challenges in her young life than most of us can imagine. Diagnosed at just two years old with a rare genetic condition, Skye has battled through not only this but also a rare form of cancer called Langerhans cell histiocytosis. Despite undergoing four gruelling rounds of chemotherapy, Skye remains an inspiration to everyone around her. Her strength, resilience, and sunny disposition shine through, making her a true beacon of light in her community.

When we heard that Skye loves yellow flowers—bright, cheerful, and full of life—we knew exactly how we could contribute.

In response to the request from Griffith Paramedic Society, we were honoured to donate a large flower installation and a beautiful yellow bouquet filled with tulips and orchids and other vibrant yellow blooms. Our team worked with passion and dedication to create an arrangement that would not only brighten the event space but also serve as a symbol of hope and solidarity for Skye and her family.

The fundraiser, held on August 27th, was a touching event filled with beautiful donations of flowers and a community coming together for a wonderful cause. Seeing the room adorned with our floral installation brought smiles to everyone’s faces, and we were moved to know that our contribution could play a part in supporting Skye’s journey.

At Hansford Flowers, we are committed to giving back to the community that has supported us over the years. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do—because flowers are not just about beauty; they are about connection, compassion, and caring for one another.

To Skye & her family, and everyone who attended the fundraiser, we want you to know that you are in our thoughts. We hope our flowers brought a little extra sunshine to your evening, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Thank you to the Griffith Paramedic Society for organizing this meaningful event and for allowing us to be a part of it. Together, we can continue to spread love, one flower at a time.
